Ten Science Fiction Summaries In Accordance With Having A Title Consisting Of Exactly Five Words

1. Dome Of The Martian Slavers

On the rings past the collective of the galaxies that circled around the belt, there too was the dome they called headquarters. Within that crater, covered by the metals which held out the vacuum of space, there was a great many fields of green and orange organic life. There slaved the martian laborers, brought forth from the rebellion existence of Sion-3. In those days I was warden, keen to the sneaky ways of their kind. Alert to their attempts to escape. With one blaster a single runner couldn’t have gotten more than a few gates out. We made sure of that.

2. The Eyes In Saturn's Might

The engine lied just outside the otter portion of the ship. We were on the brink of Saturn, slowly being pulled in by this sentient force which willed us forward. Mathews was still outside the ship by the time we realized what this force wanted. A single wire connected the engine to our cargo bay and, despite our attempts to rush the operation, the cable was cut, Mathews was lost and all we could do now was wait in fear as the invisible force pulled us into the surface of the large, unforgiving planet.

3. Cry Of The Aluminum Mantis

Down the hall and across the lab I could hear it coo-ing. Sensing. Feeling out our breath. Our fear. I grabbed the spatula off the top chrome counter and regulated the auxiliary settings to a stun mode. This weapon was meant for frying meat, but it would have to serve as a robotic bug-killer for now. It was just around the corner by the time I noticed it’s one big eye glowing with the force of a hundred tiny sensory lights. It was close now, and I’m gonna fry it’s fucking brain!

4. The Cold Moons Will Know

The sage spoke softly and I looked up to see the sand falling from the palm of one hand, into another. An oval of stardust surrounded us and twisted with the symphonies of fine tuned sounds that came from our spirits. It was a ritual of the mind and the Indian techniques of the elder times had brought us to this point. The moons were mapped out in the cycle of the formation in which they were familiar. I could look out and tell the past, present and future. My god, the acid actually worked.

5. Island Of The Pastel Aquarium

I pulled the leaver that the man in white had instructed me to, and saw as the seas split down the middle. The man in white, who had manifested the face of an African tribal mask, extended his arm down into the sea floor where I was able to walk, free from the sunken depths of the ocean. There I walked on the lowest points of the sea. I turned my head to both size and witnessed the fantastic creatures of the deep pressing up against the glass-like air. This was truly a miracle, and all from the will of a strange suited man on an island lost on the sixteenth planet from the sun.

6. A Place They Won't Go

Dark. Darkness. That’s what it was. The cold. That feeling like the nothingness was closing in. That was the true horror. That shadowy presence that followed me back home, over the seas and out from the caverns we found it in. I told them not to touch it. I told them not to take it. The relic. The artifact. The totem of the vile demigod. Now we are all doomed. It comes to me in the mirror. Requesting my surrender. I can’t hold it back any longer. The presence is closer now. Closing in. It’s here.

7. Narrative Of The Carbon Grave

Terrence never asked to be brought back. To become the machine we had made him. Perhaps… it was the size of the funding or the realization that I could play god that brought me to this point. Either way, he walks. No memory of his mortal self. We stole that from him. Terrance was merely the perfect shell we needed to complete the android process, and now the shell has served the purpose. Goodbye Terrance. Not that you were ever really there.

8. The Orb At The Mountain

It was said by the celestial wizard that the soul of the golem lies within the Mountain of the Space-Age Cozmos. There are those who travelled alongside the efforts of the Knights and the Aethernaughts. These attempts proved to be disastrous as no one took into account the skywhale, guardian of the orb. Though they may travel deep, the wings of the whale extend above and over even the largest of ships the Republic can produce. I fear the orb and the treasure of the mountain will never be discovered, as well as never being understood... so long as we harbor greed.

9. The Laser Waves Sound Near

Can you hear it now? No, perhaps not. That which you do not hear is a frequency which has come to you since before you were born. It has always been there, and there it will always be. Like the last few hums of a dying star, lost on a string of sound, it cries out across our nebula and screams in our ears. Though, we may never hear it. It is only after the loss of our lives that this frequency is picked up. Only after the absence of sense and purpose may we perceive this sound. It is the luscious sound of un-existence. The sound you will one day hear all too clear. It is the sound you will hear when you're dead.

10. It Rose From The Echo

We told the commander it was out on the water. Coming out from the trench. Exactly two days ago we had planned to investigate, but some of our men had used the escape boats to head back to shore. They told us our research bent over into a search for the devil. Well, now I have no doubt that that’s what we have discovered here. The tomb beneath the sea is speaking and we are the only ones who can hear it. There is no escape now. The gods call to us from their slumber and their voices speak of truths we prefer not to know. Let us proceed farther.
